Malwani Chicken Curry Recipe

Ingredients

  • Chicken 1 Kg
  • Onion 4-6 Onion
  • Coconut – grated 96 Gm
  • Dry coconut 40 Gm
  • Ginger 1 Inch
  • Garlic 6-8 Cloves
  • Poppy seeds 1 Tbsp
  • Coriander seeds 4 Tbsp
  • Peppercorns 1 Tbsp
  • cloves 3-6 No’s
  • Saunf 2 tsp
  • Cinnamon 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Malwani masala 1 Tbsp
  • Oil 200 ml
  • Green coriander 1 Bunch

Preparation:-

  • Clean and cut chicken in small pieces. Wash and apply salt, turmeric & malvani masala. Slice onions, grate coconut & dry coconut. Clean & chop ginger & garlic. Chop coriander
  • Heat about 1 ltr of oil. Fry onions to a light brown colour. Remove & keep aside. Fry coconut in the same oil to a light brown color.
  • Keep aside. Fry dry coconut in the same oil. Cool it down and grind to a smooth paste. (1)
  • Heat about of oil, sauté ginger, garlic. Add spices [ from poppy seeds --- cinnamon ] grind to a smooth paste. (2)
  • Heat remaining oil. Add paste (1) and fry well. Then add chicken sear well. add paste (2), sauté. Add water & cook until chicken is tender & gravy is thick.
  • Serve hot garnished with green coriander along with malwani vadas
